A commitment to sustainable creative workflows

The Herkommer Foundation is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit Texas corporation dedicated to researching and creating sustainable workflows for neighbors, scientists, entrepreneurs, writers, and poets, whose efforts demonstrate a sustainable fusion of local public service, diversity, innovation, and execution.

A passion for creating sustainability

Our range of activities over the past 15 years shows our dedication to our local community.

Here are a few of our projects:

Semicircle Arboretum

Pineywoods Historical Preservation

SJC Healthcare Infrastructure

This land was donated to the Herkommer Foundation in 2009 upon its formation. It serves as the primary focus for creating a sustainable charitable organization to further the mission of the Foundation.

Possibly built in the 1920s or 1930s, this Bennett House Company kit house was part of a larger logging community located approximately 10 miles east of Willis, Texas. Today, it is only one of two houses that remain on the original settlement, one of which has been restored by the Foundation.

San Jacinto County is a growing county but is underserved by the existing healthcare infrastructure. The Foundation, with the help of private partners, is developing a medical office and urgent care clinic. The Foundation has procured 5-acre site suitable for building such a facility as part of Phase 1.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance

Sustainable Creativity Initiative

Seeding Galveston Assistance

During the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, the Foundation helped many San Jacinto County neighbors navigate federally funded Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) providing both technical and legal services.

Since 2012 as an outgrowth of our prior activities, the Sustainable Creativity Initiative (SCI) developed a program through which we empower artists and scientists to develop ideas, organize resources, and create a sustainable marketplace for their endeavors.

The Foundation helped the non-profit organization called Seeding Galveston obtain its non-profit status by providing legal and professional assistance during the critical application phase.
